Velvet - IN THE ZONE

Jo Woolf is a Reflex Zone Practitioner, who has opened a new practice in Toft and at Neal’s Yard, Cambridge. Kirsty Wilson books in for a session

I didn't know what to expect when I booked my first session with Jo, shying away from reflexology because someone touching my feet has always felt a little alien to me. But Jo was so passionate about her vocation, clearly very experienced – and with a background in nursing and healthcare- so I felt (quite literally in safe hands.

As a busy full-time working mum, I find it hard to slow down, so I expected this treatment to offer the opportunity to switch off’ and relax, but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of how good it made me feel!
In a cosy little room in the village of Toft, I spent an hour feeling the most relaxed I can genuinely say I have ever felt. Jo began by working on my sinuses, inviting me to breathe in some eucalyptus, pine, and peppermint essential oil, which helped to clear my mind, before she focused her healing touch on my feet, my hands, and the front of my head, lulling me into a state of blissful relaxation.
After my session, Jo explained that she had also worked on some focal points, besides my sinuses, specifically my jaw, where many of us hold a lot of tension. I didn't tell Jo beforehand that I have a tendency to clench my jaw, so I was pleased she had picked this up.
The sense of serenity, peace and relaxation I felt after my session was one that I am struggling to explain;
it is simply something one has to experience for themselves.
Reflex Zone Therapy is a safe, effective, non-invasive therapy complementing medical care, and
if (like me) you are new to this - or indeed already a fan - you can find Jo in Toft on Monday and Saturday mornings and Neal's Yard, Cambridge, on Wednesday and Fridays, by appointment only.
